The Martha's Vineyard Museum opened on March 13, 2019 at its new location in the former Marine Hospital overlooking Vineyard Haven Harbor. The building dates to 1895, when it was built as a refuge for sailors. The museum boasts a wide range of artifacts and collections chronicling Island history and culture, including a rare Fresnel lens built in 1854 in France for the Gay Head Light.
