We will begin with the basics, composition, drawing, lights and darks. From there we shall paint... learning as we go that shadows and light tell us the time of day and the direction of the sunlight. Once painted on our paper, we will begin to see the composition. We will learn that objects in the background are muted in order to make those objects fall back. Objects closer to us have warmer colors. These variations bring weight to the painting, an organization that presents a grounded theme familiar to all but of course with the artist’s particular vision adding a twist. We will learn that it is the artist who decides the story of the painting.
Email mlawson@clamsnet.org for the ZOOM log in to join. Classes will meet 6/3, 6/10, 6/17, 6/24.
