Presented by the Vineyard Haven Public Library. Led by native Islander and amateur historian Wayne Nichols, this stroll will take us on a journey through Vineyard Haven’s West Chop, illuminating stories of great American writers (William Styron, Lillian Hellman, John Hersey, Art Buchwald with sprinkling of neighbor Mike Wallace). This tour features the former homes (from a distance along Main Street), favorite haunts and stories of these amazing accomplished writers, their friendships and Vineyard stories.
Tours will commence in front of the bandstand in Owen Park overlooking beautiful Vineyard Haven harbor and last approximately 90 minutes. Tour ends at the 1790s historic graveyard on West Chop where 4 of the 5 writers are buried.
