If you want to live to a ripe old age and enjoy it, preserving your ability to move freely and effectively is essential. While it’s possible to build strength, stamina, and make adjustments at any age, the best time to increase your movement capacity is before things are bothering you. Understanding the fundamentals of movement and movement training can help you do that.

In this five-part experiential series, co-hosted by the Chilmark Free Public Library and the Vineyard Haven Public Library, longevity coach Jim Lobley will explore how the body moves and how to train it for movement within the larger context of a “longevity practice.”  Beginning January 25th, the program will be held every other Saturday morning, with the first and last sessions taking place in-person on the island, and the intervening sessions held via Zoom.

Participants are encouraged to commit to all five sessions as follows:

  • Saturday, Jan. 25, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., in-person at the Katharine Cornell Theatre at 51 Spring street in Vineyard Haven.
  • Saturday, Feb. 8, 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. via Zoom
  • Saturday, Feb. 22, 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. via Zoom
  • Saturday, March 8, 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. via Zoom
  • Saturday, March 22, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., in-person at the Katharine Cornell Theatre at 51 Spring street in Vineyard Haven.
