Thanksgiving Myth Busted

"Acknowledging Native Territory and a Truthful Representation of History”

With speakers of Native American and mixed ancestry; David Vanderhoop (Aquinnah Wampanoag Nation), Ramona Peters (Mashpee Wampanoag Nation); and Evan Hall (artist). The evening’s presentation will be a truthful historic account of events preceding the current thanksgiving tradition, placed in the larger context of New England’s history, interspersed with personal stories.

The presentation will be followed by an “Ancestor Potluck," inviting people to bring a dish that represents their ancestry (an annual Sassafras event). The potluck will provide an important space to decompress, talk and relate to each other afterwards. Collaborating organizations and individuals will help hold space, set up, and increase the impact of this long overdue awareness.
