Oyster farming is a vibrant local industry here on Martha’s Vineyard with 13 aquaculture farmers on the Island. The oyster industry brings nearly $2 million each year to MV. Come join us for a Culinary Experience where we get knee deep in learning about this delicious business.
We will begin the day on board a working Oyster boat off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard. Get the full experience working side by side with two oysters fishermen aboard a Boston Whaler. You will get to see the whole process. Cruising the harbor while learning about the hatchery how it all begins. You will come away with an understanding of how we have such a great oyster growing business here on Martha’s Vineyard.
We will then head to the kitchen for an interactive hands on cooking class, topping the night off by popping champagne with our oyster dinner. Learn to shuck and prepare these beautiful gems in all ways.
