With CK Wolfson, published author and reporter.
Whatever has affected, enlightened, or inspired you can become topics for wonderful writing. This workshop shows how, using your own perspective, you can turn ordinary subjects such as parenting, traveling, or observations from your daily routine into compelling and effecting prose. Make your readers feel as if they are there, sharing the experiences, and witnessing your observations. Learn basic techniques, composition and editing skills. Practice when and how to use analogies and metaphors as descriptive devices.
The sessions include brief in-class writing exercises, open critiques, short assignments, and discussions about what makes some of the best examples of non-fiction writing so effective. When time permits, participants are invited to read excerpts from their works in progress and get feedback.
Class takes place over six Tuesdays beginning Feb. 13 and ending March 20.
