Meet Patti McCracken, the author of The Angel Makers, a true-crime story about 1920s midwife who may have been the century's most prolific killer, leading a murder ring of women responsible for the deaths of at least 160 men. The Angel Makers made Booklist’s Top 10 True Crimes of the Year, was a Waterstones Best True Crime Book, and a Financial Times Best Summer Read. McCracken is a long-time journalist who has written for the Smithsonian, Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, and many other news outlets. She was formerly on staff at the Chicago Tribune, and was twice a Knight International Press Fellow. She lives in Chilmark.
