About Dan our speaker: Dan has deep roots in both Martha’s Vineyard and bonsai artistry. His extended family has been spending summers on East Chop since the 1870s, with many family members, including Dan and his wife as year round residents. Dan became a bonsai artist by working with his dad, Dick Meleney, trimming and training bonsai, then moving into working with collected specimens when his family moved to Colorado. Dan innovates in many stages of bonsai art, including plant germination, wiring and shaping, as well as container creations. He’s never met a tree he didn’t love…and then want to change!
