An introduction to eco printing for kids. Hidden color exists all around us, waiting to be transformed into works of art. Have you ever wondered how to utilize local plant species and food compost in a sustainable, creative way? In this hands-on workshop at Slough Farm, dive into the realm of natural printmaking and dyeing processes with Katama Murray of Teach Peace Prints. Eco printing is the process of bundling and steaming both plants and food waste onto either fabric or paper, allowing the natural pigments to transfer to the prepared substrate. All of the colors, shapes, and textures come from the materials themselves and bond with the fiber, leaving synthetic colors out of the equation that are harmful to both ourselves and the environment.
Limited capacity: Attendance is capped at 10 children. Each child may be accompanied by one adult. Materials will not be doubled to accommodate for parents attending.
