Exhibit: For Mary, A Watercolor and Oil Painting Retrospective

The Workshop Gallery of Vineyard Haven is proud to present For Mary, a watercolor and oil painting retrospective of New England artist, Mary C. Lizotte. The selection on display includes scenes from the coast of Maine, floral still lifes, and dining table vignettes.

Mary Constance Lizotte (1936 - 2012) was a highly accomplished professional oil and watercolor artist, winning numerous awards throughout New England for her paintings. Mary's work spanned from the coast of Maine, to her own gardens, and many of her travels around the world. Wherever she painted, color and light imbued the canvas. Inspired by the simple moments of her surroundings, a blooming dahlia in the yard or breakfast on the kitchen table, Mary painted religiously. 

A graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art and the Boston University College of Education, Mary exhibited throughout New England and New York. She was the recipient of more than 25 awards for her work, including the Copley Master Award from the Copley Society. Mary was a resident of Norwell and Rackliff Island St George, Me. She died Sept. 24, 2012 at the age of 76.
