The astonishing photography of Senegalese artist Omar Victor Diop takes its departure from the tradition of West African studio portrait photography. In selected works from three of his most prominent recent series, Omar explores Africans from the diaspora who, through four centuries rose to positions of prominence in foreign societies and others who advanced liberty in countries around the world. A third series questions what the diaspora's position will be to planetary challenges.
