The African American Heritage Trail of Martha's Vineyard will unveil the tall sculpture of Rebecca, the Woman of Africa made by renowned sculptor, Barney Zeitz, at Native Earth Teaching Farm on North Road in Chilmark on Sunday, October 6.

This is a celebration of the life of this enslaved woman who died a free woman in 1801 and whose story is an important part of Vineyard history.

We will begin at 2 p.m.  with music from the Black Brook Singers of Aquinnah. In keeping with our theme of saving history for the young people, children will unveil the sculpture at 3 pm. The musical entertainment will continue with drumming and percussion by Rick Bausman. Everyone is welcome to join us.  Food by Aquila will be served.
