Beach Seine at Edgartown Great Pond 'Cut'
Join the Great Pond Foundation scientists for a unique opportunity to see how to use a beach seine! This rectangular net, attached to two poles while being stretched across the tide, is brought to shore to see what species can be caught and identified! All creatures large and small can be caught in a seine. The GPF scientists will sort the catch and place critters in touch buckets and tanks to identify and inspect. Staff will also talk generally about the Edgartown Great Pond! This event requires a boat to access the location.
