Martha’s Vineyard is home to several bat species. While often portrayed as scary, they are incredibly important players in our ecosystem. Several of our local bats are under threat of extinction due to a non-native fungus. Since 2014, BiodiversityWorks has been studying the Northern long-eared bat in an effort to protect their threatened populations.
Join us for an informative evening celebrating bats! Liz Witham and Ken Wentworth of Film Truth Productions will show a short documentary about the research done by BiodiversityWorks on local bat populations. Afterward, Liz Olson, wildlife biologist and assistant director of BiodiversityWorks, will share an update on their research and how you can help. There will be a Q&A session to end the evening.
