Last March I personally selected a limited number of handmade baskets, jewelry and cloth from the Mukuni Market stalls in Livingstone, Zambia to bring back and sell on my porch this summer to help pay for the income and educational sponsorship programs that the AACDP (African Artists Community Development Project) has been offering to a community of families with disabled children.

I met these families in 2005, when I traveled to Zambia to visit the Mama Bakhita CHeshire Home for children with disabilities that I had been donating to for several years. I have been doing this work for 20 years and have managed to start the Zambezi Doll Company and the Zambezi Farm for income and food security as well as offer educational sponsorships for young people in the community, because I believe that education is the most important path to income security and self confidence.

The sales will be held on July 18, Aug. 1, 15, and 29.
