Did you know that stressed spelled backwards is desserts? Do you take comfort in the kneading, the stirring, the pouring and sifting, but especially the aroma and taste of the tender crumb, the golden flake, the creamy dollop upon your tongue? Come explore the best baking books out there with us. Bring your creations, or images of them, or just your curiosity as we discuss the recipes, ingredients, and techniques, and most importantly, the taste of baking today.
Our December discussion will be about Apollonia Poilâne’s Poilâne: The Secrets of the World-Famous Bread Bakery. Located in the 6th arrondissment of Paris, the celebrated Poilâne bakery was founded in 1932 by Pierre Poilâne. Today, Poilâne supplies 2,000 Parisian restaurants and ships to 40 countries daily. Contained in the book are not only recipes for bread, but savory dishes, as well as, of course, sweets.
