The enigma of night – which conceals and liberates, frightens and absolves – is the universe of Nocturne. Over three movements, Nocturne explore various realms. In Luna/Chandra, nocturnal creatures and settings that are dormant by day are free to roam and flourish only after sundown. Rapture/Pramodya envisions night as when love’s influence is at its strongest; the glowing anticipation of evening shifts to the fragile uncertainty of dawn. In Invocation/Yaman, the hours between midnight and sunrise are charged with spiritual vibrations; the atmosphere’s stillness is believed to be the best time to connect with the divine. Can the devotee find transcendence, or will he or she be distracted by tricks of the mind?
